Name of dynamic: Creating stories with photos

Objectives:
1. To check out and demystify stereotypes related to the third age.
2. Stimulate young people's imagination in relation to the seniors' universe.

Activities:
The educator places several photos of seniors on the table. Each young person chooses a photo, imagines who this senior will be and writes a description on a sheet of paper. This description should contain:

Name, age, nationality, level of schooling, occupation, etc.
Physical characteristics (e.g. fat, thin, tall, short, uses walking stick, has health problems , etc.)
Psychological characteristics (e.g. shy, quiet, talkative, sociable, etc.)
Life history (where born, when married or not married, had children, had any accidents or outstanding moments, etc.).

After everybody has concludes the description, the circle is formed again and each young person presents their photo and "character", reading or explaining what they have written.
Finally, the educator observes the characteristics that emerged more frequently and the relevant points of the activity.

NB: It is also very useful to employ this dynamic as a method of final evaluation for the program. In this case, you may re-present the same photos to the young people and repeating the same stages of this activity. Then the educator shows the young people the description and life history they did on the first occasion. The young people are asked to compare the two views. On his basis, the educator can see if there has been any significant change in the way young people perceive seniors and the influence of the Oldnet experience in this respect.
